Third ‘Solutions for Trust Barriers’ co-design workshop
B-Trust is a European project aimed at increasing the “public acceptance” of the use of biotechnology in the food and bio-based industry, where this can yield societal benefits. The lack of trust and “public acceptance” is considered one of the most pressing barriers to valorization for biotech innovations in Europe, and has risen to prominence among various stakeholders—particularly when it concerns food applications and related fields.
During the workshop, we will share groundbreaking insights from ten co-creation workshops with consumers, farmers, and affected industries regarding the perceptions and (perceived) risks—so-called “trust barriers”—that underlie so-called public distrust. Based on these insights, we would like to collaborate with you—representatives from policy and research —to develop concrete and feasible solutions that can be deployed to address these perceptions and perceived risks as barriers to valorization.
With this third workshop, we aim for a mix of profiles who can arrive at shared solutions from their different fields of expertise. These solutions will then be explored in more depth during a series of further co-design workshops. In the second part of the B-Trust project, we will focus on how these solutions and their underlying principles can be implemented.
