Optimal use of natural resources and valorisation of by-products
In a circular economy, by-products are used to create new (food) products and there is almost no waste. Using recycled water is also a central theme. The use of biomass is subject to the cascade of value retention: first food/animal feed, then materials and then energy. Packaging choices are also becoming more important. The objective is to preserve the product as well as possible with a minimum environmental impact. The ‘packaging’ topic is being developed in a separate roadmap.
Measuring is knowing, in all areas: the quality of the natural resources, the influence of the machines, etc. all have an impact on the end result
