Connecting for Change: Advancing Food Safety for More Sustainable Food Systems

catalyse final event

Join us to explore how unlocking the potential of suboptimal foods, advancing food safety innovation and rethinking marketing standards can help reduce food waste and shape more sustainable food systems.

At the heart of the event is the European CATALYSE project, which helps food system actors access and apply food safety knowledge and innovation. CATALYSE brings together food businesses, innovators, start-ups, researchers, food authorities and other professionals to exchange expertise, discover innovative solutions and accelerate the uptake and scaling of promising practices and technologies. Through an online platform, members gain access to a professional network, scientific and educational resources, training opportunities and the latest insights in food safety.
The event also connects CATALYSE with two complementary European projects, BREADCRUMB and ROSETTA. Both explore how public and private marketing standards contribute to food waste and how safe, suboptimal foods can gain better access to the market. BREADCRUMB is building an evidence base across five food commodities and developing guidance for businesses and policymakers, while ROSETTA is testing sustainable solutions and alternative marketing models through real-world pilots.

Through expert contributions, interactive discussions and exchange across the three projects, participants will gain practical insights, make valuable connections and help turn shared knowledge into recommendations for policy and practice.
The event is particularly relevant for food safety, quality, sustainability, innovation and R&D professionals within food companies, as well as for technology providers serving the food industry and business and policy leads.
