History

Flanders’ FOOD was established in 2005, initiated by Fevia Vlaanderen and 20 Flemish food companies, our founding members. This was to provide a solution for the clear need for support, information and a network to better invest in scientific and technological innovations.

Right from the start, the focus was on initiating research projects to explore new innovation opportunities, disseminate new and existing knowledge and to match businesses with each other and with suitable research partners.

Since 1 January 2018, together with our entire network of businesses and partners, we make up the spearhead cluster for the agri-food industry. As an innovation platform, we are the central point of contact. A 10-year innovative strategy was part of this his transition. The basis remained the same and several new ideas were added. 4 strategic objectives and 4 program lines for strategic research and innovation were defined.
